All available kits have been distributed
at the Solar Car workshop in February 2010. You can purchase your own kits direct
from Solar
World (module, gear sets) or Pitsco
('Raycatcher' module).
Students will have until May 5th to complete their Solar Projects.
Why?: To experience solar electricity in the spirit of competition. SMUD and ARC support greater use of renewable energy. The Solar Car race provides a hands-on experience from which to explore solar energy further.

Chimacum Solar Car website: Teacher & Student Lesson Plans with lots of great illustrations for all aspects of designing solar cars. Developed by a teacher at Chimacum Middle School in Washington State. This school has now adopted solar cars as part of their standard curriculum for 7th grade. This is a great site for teachers to encourage and incorporate additional learning... eg. friction, gears, forces & motion.
